Ampem Darkoa Ladies clinch 2025/26 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League title

Swedru (C/R), April 19, GNA – Ampem Darkoa Ladies emerged champions of the 2025/26 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League after defeating Hasaacas Ladies 2-1 in a thrilling final at the Swedru Stadium in the Central Region. 

Ampem Darkoa Ladies started the match on a strong note, mounting early pressure on their opponents and nearly found the opener within the first five minutes. 

Mariam Olawumi came close with a powerful effort, but the Hasaacas Ladies goalkeeper reacted swiftly to deny her, while a follow-up attempt was cleared off the line by a defender. 

Ampem Darkoa continued to dominate the opening 15 minutes, creating several scoring opportunities but failing to convert them into goals. 

Hasaacas Ladies gradually settled into the game and nearly broke the deadlock when Veronica Baah Kumah launched a long ball into the danger area, but Ampem Dakoa Ladies goalkeeper Latifa Abesik made a crucial save to keep the score level. 

Despite Ampem Darkoa Ladies’ dominance and numerous chances, it was Hasaacas Ladies who took the lead in the 38thminute. 

Abiba Issah fired a shot from outside the 18-yard box to give her side a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.  

Upon resumption, Ampem Darkoa Ladies returned with renewed determination and found the equaliser in the 57th minute through Priscilla Okyere, who calmly slotted home to restore parity. 

The match intensified as both sides pushed for the winner, but it was Ampem Dakoa Ladies who made their dominance count. Gloria Adomako scored the decisive goal in the 83rdminute to complete the turnaround and seal victory. 

In the closing stages, Ampem Darkoa Ladies continued to press for a third goal, putting the Hasaacas Ladies defence under sustained pressure, but were unable to extend their lead. 

The final whistle confirmed Ampem Darkoa Ladies as champions, capping a remarkable performance with a well-deserved 2-1 victory over Hasaacas Ladies.
