Tema, March 7, GNA – Mr Ludwig Teye Totimeh, the Tema West Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has reiterated the Tema West Municipal Assembly’s (TWMA) commitment to improving infrastructure and modernising administrative systems to enhance development in the municipality.
Mr Totimeh said aggressive infrastructure development and improved governance remained key to transforming the municipality and improving residents’ living conditions.
He made the remarks during the municipality’s 69th Independence Anniversary parade held under the theme: “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope.”
Addressing students, security personnel and traditional leaders at the event, the MCE said the Assembly was prioritising key public projects aimed at improving everyday life for residents.
He noted that the municipality had recorded progress in road and drainage projects over the past year, explaining that the projects were expected to improve the movement of goods and services while addressing recurring flooding challenges in some communities.
Mr Totimeh also highlighted efforts to modernise educational infrastructure in response to the growing demand for quality learning facilities.
He said the TWMA was overseeing the construction of a two-storey 12-unit classroom block at Star Basic School, while another 12-unit classroom block was being built at Old Lashibi Government School.
He explained that the projects would expand access to quality education within the municipality and emphasised the importance of protecting public lands, particularly school lands, from encroachment.
Mr Totimeh said the Assembly had taken steps to safeguard such lands to ensure that future expansion and recreational needs of schools were protected.
Touching on efforts to improve efficiency in local governance through digitisation, he said the Assembly had begun digitising records and streamlining office operations to reduce bureaucracy and improve service delivery to residents.
According to him, improved sanitation remained a priority for the Assembly, adding that investments in waste management and drainage infrastructure were expected to create a cleaner and healthier environment.
The MCE attributed some of the municipality’s development efforts to the national development agenda under President John Dramani Mahama’s reset policy.
He urged residents to demonstrate patriotism and take collective responsibility in maintaining public infrastructure, calling on communities to protect newly constructed facilities and support development initiatives in the municipality.
Mr Totimeh expressed optimism about the future of Tema West, stating that sustained development efforts would restore hope among the youth and create opportunities for future generations.
