Accra, March 29, GNA – The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has stated that no funds has been allocated for the Black Stars’ two international friendly matches against Austria and Germany.

A statement by Bagbara Tanko, Head of PR and Communications at the Sports Ministry, said, “For the avoidance of doubt, the Ministry has not committed any funds, whether from its budget or through corporate sponsorship, towards the two friendly matches.”

It also addressed social media videos showing Sports Minister Mr Kofi Iddie Adams with some group of fans at the airport, who were en route to Germany to also watch the Black Stars match.

According to the Ministry, no arrangements had been made to facilitate fan travel or participation, urging the public to dismiss circulating reports suggesting otherwise.

“The individuals captured in the video are not known to the Minister. They were simply Ghanaians he encountered briefly in the departure tunnel of the airport while boarding his flight,” the Ministry said.

It added that the interaction was casual and typical of engagements between public officials and citizens in public spaces.

According to the Ministry, Mr Adams travelled alone to Germany on official duty to meet the Black Stars squad and technical team ahead of the friendly matches.

The Ministry said it remained committed to transparency, accountability and prudent management of state resources.
