Kumasi, March 18, GNA – MTN Ghana has taken on the lead sponsorship role for the 2026 edition of Ashantifest, reaffirming its commitment to promoting culture and community development.
The company is financing key activities of the festival, including a major musical concert and a football gala, as part of efforts to ensure a successful celebration.
Mr Simon Amoh, Senior Manager, General Trade for the Northern Sector, announced this during the official launch of the festival in Kumasi.
He said MTN Ghana had absorbed the full cost of providing lunch for participants at the launch event and would further sponsor a planned grand concert, covering all associated expenses such as artistes, venue, and logistics.
In addition, the company will fund a football gala, including costs related to the venue, jerseys, trophies, refreshments, and prizes for participating teams.
Mr Amoh indicated that MTN Ghana remained open to supporting additional aspects of the festival, should the need arise.
“We are ready to collaborate further if the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council deems it necessary,” he said.
He emphasised the importance of culture in national development, noting that it serves as a vital tool for preserving identity and transferring values across generations.
“As an African company, culture is central to our way of life. It influences everything we do, including how we promote education and community engagement,” he added.

Mr Amoh urged residents and the general public to actively participate in the festival, which features a series of activities scheduled to run through the Easter period.
He also called on media practitioners, bloggers, and content creators to amplify the festival to a global audience to help boost tourism and generate revenue for the Ashanti Region.
Ashantifest is expected to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Ashanti people while promoting unity and socio-economic development in the region.
