Tema, March 08, GNA – Matrix Netball Club from Ada has secured a bronze medal at the 69th Independence Day Netball Championship for the Greater Accra Region, held at Tema Community Eight.

The club finished third in the regional competition after an impressive performance in a group stage that featured four teams competing for a place in the finals.

Matrix narrowly lost its opening match, 6–9, to La-Teshie-based Future Stars, following a late start to the tournament which forced organisers to limit matches to 10 minutes of playtime due to time constraints.

Despite the initial setback, Matrix bounced back strongly in their subsequent games.

The Ada-based side recorded a convincing 7–0 victory over Newbies Netball Club from Awoshie before delivering a dominant performance against fellow Ada side Vision Netball Club with a 14–0 win.

Vision later held Future Stars to a 2–2 draw, but Future Stars secured victory over Newbies, enabling the La-based side to top the group on goal difference.

Matrix finished the competition with six points from three matches, scoring a total of 27 goals and conceding six, resulting in an impressive goal difference of +21, which secured the bronze medal position for the team.

Officials of the club expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, noting that the achievement reflected the growing strength of netball in the Ada area.

Mr Ebenezer Mawusour Kisseh and Mr Timothy Kutsuafor, Head Coach and Assistant Coach of Matrix, expressed joy in the team’s performance.

“We are proud of the fighting spirit and determination shown by our girls at the Independence Day Netball Championship. The journey continues, stronger, better, and more united, just as our motto depicts, ‘Pride of Ada, Power on Court’, Coach Kisseh said.

Matrix Netball Club previously won the Naana Kakie Foundation Netball Competition held on January 3, 2026, and their latest achievement has further strengthened their reputation as one of the emerging netball teams in the region.

The Independence Day championship brought together several clubs across the Greater Accra Region to promote sports development and youth participation in netball.
