Ghana’s Mission in New York hosts Mawuko Kuadzi to celebrate historic back-to-back Artios wins

Accra, March 12, GNA Ghana’s diplomatic mission in New York has honored casting director Mawuko Kuadzi following his historic second victory at the Artios Awards, hosting him at the Ghana Consulate for a courtesy visit and presentation of the award.

Mawuko Kuadzi, who recently won Best International Feature at the 41st Artios Awards, paid a formal visit to the Consul General of Ghana in New York, John Caleb Amoah, where he presented the Artios trophy in recognition of the support Ghana’s diplomatic mission had shown to Ghanaian achievements abroad.

The ceremony comes after Mawuko Kuadzi made international headlines for defeating strong contenders from Asia and Europe in the highly competitive category at the awards ceremony held at The Edison Ballroom.

A statement copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Thursday said the  Artios Awards, organized annually by the Casting Society of America, recognized excellence in casting across global film, television, theatre, and commercial productions.

“ Kuadzi’s latest victory marks his second consecutive win at the ceremony”.

It said in 2025, Mawuko Kuadzi made history as the first African ever to win an Artios Award since its inception more than four decades ago, claiming Best Casting for a Commercial.

“His 2026 victory for his casting work on the film The Fisherman has now strengthened Ghana’s position on the international creative stage”.

During the meeting at the consulate, Mawuko Kuadzi expressed deep appreciation to the Ghana Mission in New York for its encouragement and support.

“I am grateful for the continued commitment of the Ghana Consulate to celebrating and promoting the achievements of Ghanaians on the global stage,” he said. “It is encouraging to know that wherever we go in the world, Ghana stands behind its citizens who are working to represent the country positively.”

Consul General Amoah described the achievement as a proud moment for the country and the continent.

“We had plans to be present to support Mawuko at the awards ceremony,” Consul General Amoah said. “Unfortunately, some pressing official engagements made it impossible. That is why we felt it was important to host him here before he departs New York for Ghana.”

The diplomat praised Mawuko Kuadzi’s achievement as a national victory.

“When a Ghanaian wins on such a global platform, it is not just a personal success. It becomes a win for the whole country.

“We are proud that a Ghanaian came to New York, competed against strong contenders from Asia and Europe, and is taking the trophy back home to Africa and Ghana.”

He also assured the filmmaker that the consulate would assist in making his departure from the United States smooth and memorable.

“We will continue to support and celebrate Ghanaians who bring honour to our country. Mawuko’s success is an example to many young people that excellence and dedication can take you to the highest global stages.”

Mawuko Kuadzi, in response, pledged to continue representing Ghana and Africa with distinction.

“I am honoured by this recognition from the Ghana Consulate,” he said. “I will continue to serve as a positive ambassador for Ghana and the African continent wherever my work takes me.”

Mawuko Kuadzi’s consecutive Artios wins have sparked widespread celebration across Ghana and Africa, with industry leaders and creatives describing the achievement as a milestone for African storytelling and global representation.

As he prepares to present the award to Ghanaian authorities in Ghana, the filmmaker’s historic victories are already being seen as a defining moment for Ghana’s creative sector and a powerful signal that African talent is gaining stronger recognition on the world stage.
