Accra, March 16, GNA – The Ghana Football Association (GFA), through its Medical Committee, will hold a mid-season refresher workshop for medical personnel working within Ghana’s football system on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
The workshop, which is on the theme “Tackling Mid-Season Overuse Injuries”, is part of the association’s efforts to improve medical support in football and strengthen the ability of club medical teams to manage player health as the season progresses.
Medical representatives from clubs in the Ghana Premier League, the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League, and the Access Bank Division One League would take part in the programme. Medical staff from clubs under the various Regional Football Associations are also expected to attend.
The workshop would focus on updating participants on practical ways of dealing with injuries linked to repeated physical strain during the season. Attention would be given to common overuse injuries that affect players during periods of intense competition.
Topics to be discussed include the risks and causes of overuse injuries, with emphasis on factors that make footballers more vulnerable during demanding schedules.
Participants would also examine how common overuse injuries in football can be managed through treatment, rehabilitation, and preventive measures aimed at reducing time spent out of action and protecting players’ long-term health.
Another key part of the session would be clinical case discussions, where medical practitioners would review practical situations and exchange experiences to improve diagnosis, treatment choices and recovery plans at club level.
The workshop is expected to encourage collaboration, professional learning and knowledge sharing among those responsible for medical care in Ghanaian football.
