Obuasi (Ash), March 30, GNA – Dr. Amina Achiaa Asiedu Amoah, Proprietress of Jesus Cares School in Obuasi, has challenged prevailing perceptions about social media, especially among the youth, describing the digital space not as a threat but as a powerful resource when used intentionally.

She made the remarks during the school’s 25th anniversary celebration, held under the theme: â€śAcademic and Moral Excellence for Holistic Development of the Learner in the Era of Social Media.”

“The digital era is not a threat if we approach it with a sense of purpose,” she stated, urging students to shift from passive consumption to purposeful engagement. She encouraged them to leverage social media as a tool for research, learning, and professional networking.

Dr. Amoah emphasised that achieving holistic development requires a collaborative effort among key stakeholders, including educators, parents, and the wider community.

As part of the celebration, outstanding students and staff were recognised for their contributions to the school’s success. The highlight of the awards ceremony was the recognition of Mr. Paul Adjei, popularly known as Sir Paul, who was named Best Teacher in honour of his 25 years of dedicated service to the institution since its inception. His unwavering commitment earned him a standing ovation from an appreciative audience.

In a touching moment, Mr. Eugen Kofi Amankwa, CEO of EUGENMAT Travel and Consult, pledged to reward Sir Paul’s long-standing service. Challenging the notion that “a teacher’s reward is in heaven,” he announced that he would fully sponsor a travel passport for Sir Paul and provide an additional GH₵1,000 to support his travels.

“We must learn to honor our heroes while they are with us,” Mr. Amankwa remarked.

The gesture drew widespread applause and highlighted the importance of recognising and rewarding educators in tangible ways.
