Dzita to host 2026 Easter homecoming festival, focus on education and community development

Dzita, (V/R), March 26, GNA – The coastal town of Dzita in the Volta Region, is poised to host a vibrant and purpose-driven celebration, as the 2026 edition of the Dzita Easter Homecoming Festival takes center stage. 

The annual festival, scheduled to run from April 2 to April 6, 2026, is being organised under the auspices of the Dzita Development Association. 

This year’s festival is anchored on the theme: “Securing the Future of Dzita Traditional Area through educational outcomes improvement,” signaling a strong commitment to youth empowerment, academic excellence, and sustainable community growth. 

The carefully curated five-day programme reflects a holistic approach to development, combining cultural heritage with modern community needs. 

Activities will commence on Thursday, April 2, with a floating event from Dzita to Keta, alongside a health screening exercise at the Dzita Community-based Health Planning Services (CHPS) compound. 

These opening activities underscore the festival’s emphasis on wellness and community bonding. 

On Friday, April 3, attention will shift to governance and youth engagement. The Dzita Development Congress at the Dzita Town Square will bring together key stakeholders, opinion leaders, and development partners to deliberate on the future of the area. 

The day will also feature an inter-school quiz competition at the Global Evangelical Church, Miracle Chapel Dzita – highlighting the festival’s educational focus—followed by a street carnival and a second floating event linking Dzita to surrounding communities. 

Saturday, April 4, is expected to be the cultural high point, featuring a grand durbar of chiefs and people at the Dzita E.P Basic School Park. 

Traditional authorities, dignitaries, and invited guests are anticipated to grace the occasion in a rich display of heritage and unity.  

The day will also host a third floating event and climax with the Miss Dzita Pageantry, celebrating beauty, intelligence, and cultural pride. 

Spiritual reflection will define Sunday, April 5, with an inter-denominational church service across various churches, reinforcing the community’s shared values.  

Later in the day, the festival will transition into recreation with a football gala at the Dzita-Agbledomi R.C Basic School Park, followed by a lively artist night expected to draw music lovers and youth from across the region. 

The festival will conclude on Monday, April 6, with a dawn ‘jama’ and health walk from Anyanui to Dzita, promoting fitness and unity, followed by relaxation at the ‘Meet Me There Picnic,’ offering residents and visitors an opportunity to unwind and network. 

The grand durbar and the Dzita Development Congress are expected to attract a high-profile gathering of dignitaries, including traditional rulers from the Dzita Traditional Area, political leaders, education stakeholders, development partners, and members of the diaspora. 

Among the dignitaries expected to grace the festival are Togbi Sri III, the Overlord of Anloland; Sandra Kpedor; and Richard Sefe, among others. Their participation is anticipated to lend significant weight to discussions on educational development and infrastructural advancement in the community. 

The 2026 Dzita Easter Homecoming Festival stands out as a strategic platform for advocacy and development, by prioritizing education as a central theme, organisers are aligning cultural celebration with long-term socio-economic transformation 

As anticipation builds, Dzita is set not only to celebrate its rich heritage but also to chart a progressive path toward a more empowered and educated future.
