Adaklu Kodzobi (V/R), Mar. 16, GNA – A 14-year-old Senior High School student has admonished her colleagues to shy away from acts that could jeopardise their future ambitions.
She said to stay clear of such acts, children must embrace and walk in the light of Jesus Christ.
Miss Betty Deh gave the admonition in a sermon she delivered during this year’s Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG) Children’s Ministry thanksgiving and fundraising service at the Edem Congregation of the Church at Adaklu Kodzobi in the Adaklu District.
The sermon, on the theme: “Anointed to Walk in the Light,” was based on Bible passages from I Samuel 16:1–13, Ephesians 5:8–14, and John 9:1–41.
Miss Deh exhorted the children to live lives characterised by truth, humility, obedience, holiness, and righteousness in the sight of God and man.
She urged them to be respectful and obedient not only to their parents and teachers but also to all elderly people.
“Turn away from fruitless deeds of darkness such as sexual immorality, drug abuse, and crude speech, and live honest lives,” she advised.
Miss Deh said walking in the light would shape their character and enable them to bear fruits that would benefit not only themselves but society.
She also appealed to parents and guardians to be responsible and strive to provide the needs of their children.
“Children should feel loved in their homes and be allowed to express their feelings to their parents without fear,” she said.
Miss Deh further entreated parents to continue praying for their children and guide them to become responsible adults in the future.
Activities undertaken during the week-long celebration included talk shows, debates, a quiz competition, night praises and hymns, and a clean-up exercise.
