Keta (VR), March 7 – GNA-Mr Wisdom Seade, the Keta Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) in the Volta Region, has reechoed the theme of the 69th Independence Day anniversary celebration and stated that “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope” was a forward-thinking agenda for the municipality and Ghana for progress.

He emphasised that the theme was timely to urge citizens to measure progress not only by economic growth but also by renewed confidence and optimism.

Mr Seade, in his speech during the Municipal Independence Day celebration held at the forecourt of the assembly, expressed gratitude to all who worked diligently to organised the event and commended schools, security services, and participants for their remarkable display.

“I urge you fellow citizens to recognise that the future of Ghana is in your hands, let encourage each other to reflect on our journey so far, lets honour the past, and look forward to a hopeful, progressive future,” he said.

He stressed on the need for unity in purpose to build prosperity and restore hope for present and future generations, to align with President John Dramani Mahama’s leadership philosophy which focused on pragmatic governance, infrastructure development, job creation, and policies to improve citizens’ lives, which would strengthen the country’s support for African unity and cooperation.

“Building Prosperity, calls for strengthening economic foundations through productivity, innovation and responsible governance to challenge institutions, businesses, and citizens to work hard for sustainable development,” he said.

He said that the Keta Municipality was committed to fostering local growth, improving infrastructure, and enhancing health services, with a focus on education, youth development, and environmental sustainability for the improvement of the communities.

The MCE further urged collaboration with communities, teachers, and parents to instill values of teamwork, unity, and service in the next generation as well as guide the younger ones to become responsible citizens in future.

Mr Seade explained that the event showcased the commitment of the municipality to progress, unity, and patriotism, and called on all citizens of Ghana to work together towards a brighter and progressive future.

He said that Ghana’s independence in 1957 marked a journey toward development, dignity, and self-determination, and the “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope” theme was a continuation of such journey.

Mr Paul Dzah, a resident of Keta, who also witnessed the ceremony, said Mr Seade’s speech had highlighted the importance of social democratic values such as fairness, opportunity, and social protection, in achieving development goals for the country.

He said this year’s theme was a reminder that the future of Ghana was in the hands of its citizens, and collective effort was needed to achieve prosperity and restore hope.

He stated that the theme also served as a wakeup call to action for institutions, businesses, and individuals to contribute to national development and focused on economic growth and job creation, to improve livelihoods.

Some other residents including parents, teachers, assembly members, chiefs among others who spoke to the Ghana News Agency, expressed excitement over the anniversary celebration and appealed to the stakeholders and the government to turn the fortunes of the country for the best.

The event which was highly attended by traditional leaders, community stakeholders, and citizens was characterised with drumming and dancing, a parade among others to mark the 69th Municipal Independent Anniversary Day which further reaffirmed the commitment to the development of the Keta Municipality as well as Ghana.
