Atonkor JHS wins Jasikan District quiz competition

Dambai (O/R), March 6, GNA – Atonkor Junior High School (JHS) has emerged victorious in the Jasikan District Inter-Basic Schools Quiz Competition. 

It is a prestigious academic event held under the auspices of the Presiding Member of the Jasikan Municipal Assembly, Mr Andrews Jacinto. 

The competition, which drew participation from seven basic schools in the district, tested students’ knowledge in Mathematics, General Science, English Language, and History. 

Atonkor JHS demonstrated exceptional prowess, securing 72 points to claim the top prize, followed by Jasikan JHS with 35 points and Kute JHS with 34 points.  

The event was marked by a spirited contest and enthusiasm, with students showcasing their academic talents and skills. 

Ms Roselyn Kafui Ofori, the Jasikan Municipal Director of Education, commended the initiative, emphasizing its role in preparing pupils for future academic challenges and fostering academic excellence. 

She noted that such competitions provided a platform for students to develop critical thinking, teamwork, and communication skills, essential for their future careers.  

Ms Ofori urged schools to continue participating in similar events to build confidence and promote healthy competition. 

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Parke-Davis Magyigbe, reaffirmed his commitment to providing quality education, announcing plans for mock examinations and a spelling bee competition to support students’ academic growth.  

He emphasized the importance of equipping students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and beyond. 

Mr Magyigbe also highlighted the need for stakeholders to work together to address educational challenges and ensure that students receive the best possible education. 

Mr Jacinto, the quiz organiser, expressed his commitment to promoting academic progress, stating that the event aimed to sharpen pupils’ cognitive abilities and instil a spirit of healthy competition.  

He pledged to sustain the programme by making it an annual event to motivate pupils to excel academically.  

In addition, he also encouraged students to take advantage of such opportunities to develop their skills and knowledge, emphasizing that education was key to unlocking their full potential.
