Agorkpo-Ada, March 17, GNA — Mr Isaac Onyame Kwarteng, the Assembly Member for the Kudzragbe Mormortsonya Electoral Area, has donated medical equipment and other items to the Agorkpo Salem Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound to support healthcare delivery in the area.
The items included 3,000 strips of syringes, two glucometers, a maternity bed with mattress, and 10 plastic chairs.
The donation forms part of efforts by the assembly member to improve access to quality healthcare services within the electoral area.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Kwarteng said the donation followed an appeal from health workers at the facility, who outlined several challenges affecting service delivery.
According to him, while he personally funded the procurement of the maternity bed and chairs, the medical equipment was donated by GaDangme International (GDI), a group based in the United States and Canada.
“I funded part of the items, but the medical equipment was provided by GaDangme International through a member of the group,” he said.
Mr Kwarteng expressed appreciation to the group, particularly Mr Allalomo, for supporting healthcare delivery in the community.
He noted that the Agorkpo CHPS compound faced several challenges, including the absence of a pharmacy or drug dispensing unit, inadequate beds, and limited logistics needed for effective healthcare services.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Ada East District Health Directorate, Dr Hubert Hounkpatin commended the assembly member and the donors for the gesture, describing it as timely and beneficial to both health workers and patients.
He said the donation would help improve maternal and general healthcare services in the community.
Dr Hounkpatin appealed to other stakeholders and philanthropists to support health facilities in underserved communities to enhance service delivery.
