Bornikorpe-Ada, March 25, GNA – The Ada West District Assembly has renovated and handed over the Bornikorpe Health Centre to the District Health Directorate, to improve healthcare delivery in the community.
Mr Gordon Walter Doe, the Ada West District Coordinating Director, officially handed over the facility to Mr Mordjifa Tanihu Jerry John Foreigner Mills-Nkrumah, the District Chief Executive (DCE), who in turn presented it to the Health Directorate.
Mr Doe said the previous facility structure, that served Bornikorpe and its surrounding communities, had become dilapidated and posed safety risks to both staff and patients, necessitating the renovation.
The DCE commended the staff of the health centre for their dedication, describing the facility as one of the most highly regarded in the district.
“Almost everyone who has accessed healthcare here returns with positive feedback about the staff. Your commitment to duty is commendable,” he said.
Mr Mills-Nkrumah noted that the poor condition of the facility became more apparent after a new toilet facility was constructed.
“That was when I realised that the toilet facility was in better condition than the main health centre. It was clear that urgent intervention was needed,” he added.
Dr Maxwell Onassis Fiadjoe, the District Director of Health Services, described the renovation and handover as timely, stating that it would enhance safety, sanitation and service delivery at the facility.

Mr Lawrence Katey Nunekpeku, the Assembly member for the area and Presiding Member of the Assembly, appealed to the DCE to continue addressing challenges facing health facilities in the district, including the provision of more incinerators to cater for their medical waste.
Mr Bright Obeng-Amoako, a representative from the Greater Accra Regional Health Directorate, emphasised the importance of proper waste management, noting that poor handling of medical waste could lead to the spread of infections within communities.
He commended the assembly for the renovation, stating that the facility now reflects the standard expected of a health centre.
Nene Kwasi Dameh Fiegbe, the Chief of Bornikorpe, appealed to the assembly to fence the facility to enhance security for staff and patients and pledged the community’s support towards maintaining the centre.
