Ukrainian drones attack Russian-occupied Sevastopol, killing one

Moscow/Kiev, Feb 20, (dpa/GNA) – Ukrainian drones attacked the Russian-occupied naval city of Sevastopol on the Crimean peninsula, the Russian-installed administrator for the port city that is home to the Russian Black Sea Fleet said on Friday.

One man was killed and a woman injured, Mikhail Razvozhayev wrote on Telegram. He did not provide information on possible hits, including whether military targets were attacked, but said the city’s air defence had shot down 26 drones, the city administrator said on Telegram.

The attack shattered windows and caused minor damage to houses, he said.

Russia illegally occupied Crimea in 2014, and launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine nearly four years ago.

The Russian-language but pro-Ukrainian Telegram channel Krimski Weter, reported explosions near Dzhankoi in northern Crimea, where there is a military airfield.

Due to the danger from Ukrainian air and sea drones, the Black Sea Fleet has long since moved most of its ships to the port of Novorossiysk in southern Russia, but there are still many military bases in and around Sevastopol.

Ukraine reports Russian strikes on Nikopol

Russian drones and artillery had hit the frontline city of Nikopol in the south of Dnipropetrovsk region, injuring three, Ukrainian authorities reported on Friday morning.

A missile also struck Kharkiv, a major city in eastern Ukraine, they added.
