Battor (V/R), Sept. 13, GNA – Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, has supported 2,269 newly admitted Senior High School (SHS) students in the constituency with essential educational and personal hygiene items to ease the financial burden on their families.
The annual gesture, which has become a tradition of the MP, saw all the beneficiaries receive chop boxes, mattresses and exercise books to support their transition into second-cycle education.
Female students were additionally provided with hygiene products, including tissues and sanitary pads, as part of efforts to promote their dignity, wellbeing and uninterrupted participation in school.
The MP also donated bicycles to all 100 newly enrolled day students to facilitate their movement to and from school and help address transportation challenges that could affect regular attendance.
Mr Ablakwa, who announced the initiative expressed delight at the success of the annual exercise, saying the intervention was intended to ensure that no student was left behind because of financial difficulties.
He encouraged the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously and make the most of the opportunities provided to them.
“Go make us proud,” he told the students, reaffirming his commitment to supporting education and the development of young people in the North Tongu Constituency.
The annual donation has grown into a major educational support initiative in the constituency, providing practical assistance to families as their children begin their SHS education.
Some beneficiaries and parents expressed appreciation to the MP for the gesture, saying the items would significantly reduce the financial pressure associated with preparing students for SHS.
They commended Mr Ablakwa for sustaining the initiative over the years and ensuring that students from different backgrounds received the needed support to begin their academic journey with confidence.
