Sogakope (V/R), Feb. 24, GNA – Some ten more off-grid communities in the South Tongu Constituency have been provided with solar lighting systems through a collaboration between the Member of Parliament (MP) of the area, Mr Maxwell Kwame Lukutor, and the Intercom Programming & Manufacturing Company (IPMC), bringing the total number of beneficiary communities to 15.
The initiative, aimed at expanding access to electricity in underserved communities, is expected to improve security, support learning activities at night, and boost small-scale economic activities.
Mr Lukutor said the intervention formed part of efforts to promote equity and inclusion by ensuring that no community in the constituency remained without access to basic social amenities.
He noted that for many years, some communities had remained outside the national electricity grid, but the provision of solar lighting was helping to change that situation and improve living conditions.

“Our children can now study at night; communities are safer, and small businesses have renewed opportunities to grow,” he said, describing the project as a practical demonstration of development-focused leadership.
The MP expressed appreciation to IPMC for the partnership, saying the collaboration highlighted the importance of corporate support in advancing local development initiatives.
He said the constituency remained open to working with other organisations, non-governmental organisations and development partners committed to supporting the progress of the area.
Some of the beneficiary communities are Bludo, Agbogbome, Nyadegale, Kpato, Adjeikope (Agavedo-Tuanikope), Tordzikoramongst others.
Mr Lukutor reaffirmed his commitment to pursuing development initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life of residents across the constituency.
