Tema, Feb. 04, GNA – Residents of Adjei Kojo in the Tema West Municipality are set to receive their first health facility following the sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a Community-based Health Planning (CHP) compound and staff accommodation.

Mr Ludwig Teye Totimeh, the Tema West Municipal Chief Executive, accompanied by Mr James Enu, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, cut the sod to commence work on the project.

The facility will include a CHP compound and a three-bedroom accommodation to house health personnel serving the community.

Mr Totimeh told the gathering that the project was expected to be completed within 12 months, adding that the accommodation would help attract and retain health workers in the area.

He described the project as a flagship initiative, announcing that it would be complemented by several other development interventions in the municipality.

These, he said, included the completion of an abandoned police post, the drilling of five boreholes at Lashibi, the construction of a 12-unit classroom block, drainage works in Adjei Kojo and Klagon, and improvements to the road network across various electoral areas.

The MCE urged residents who had encroached on the land designated for the health facility to respect the timeline given to them to vacate the site to enable the contractor to commence work without delay.

Mr Enu, on his part, said plans were underway to convert the under-bridge stretch on the motorway within the municipality into a flyover to improve traffic flow and reduce crashes.

He assured residents that Tema West was among the constituencies benefiting from the government’s road infrastructure programme, noting that steps were being taken to ensure that roads across the municipality were rehabilitated.

“Tema West is one of the constituencies the government has earmarked for road development, and very soon, roads across the municipality will receive attention,” he said.
