Dambai (O/R), Feb 4, GNA – Mr Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Health Minister, has presented GHS10,000 each to Dr Abdul Ghaffar Tajudeen and Dr Emmanuel Rahmat Udousoro, the two medical doctors, who reported for duty in the region amidst severe shortage of healthcare professionals.
The medical doctors, who work at Jasikan Municipal Hospital and Worawora Government Hospital, were among 25 posted in Oti Region 2025.
The Health Minister’s award recognizes their dedication and aims to motivate more healthcare workers to serve in rural areas.
In a short ceremony held at Jasikan Municipal hospital with health workers, Mr Akandoh said government plans to introduce a 20% allowance for health workers in deprived communities to bridge the rural-urban development gap.
According to him, these efforts would ensure equitable healthcare distribution, especially as many new graduates prefer urban locations such as Accra, Kumasi and other cities.
Dr Tajudeen and Dr Udousoro, thanked the Health Minister for recognition and pledged to continue serving Oti Region with dedication.
