Accra, Feb. 16, GNA – The Harmonious Chorale-Ghana, one of Ghana’s and Africa’s most decorated choral ensembles, has announced a vibrant calendar of activities for 2026, marking a year of musical excellence, international representation, spiritual ministry, and a major milestone in the Choir’s history.
A statement by the Choir highlighted that the schedule, confirmed from February 1st, includes both major public events and important private engagements.
The Choir’s year begins in March with a grand celebration honoring its Executive Chairman, Reverend Dr Joyce Rosalind Aryee, who turns 80. The Music Directorate, led by Founder and Executive Director James Varrick Armaah (PhD), is preparing a musical concert celebrating her life, service, and lasting impact on the Choir and the choral music community.
In May 2026, the Harmonious Chorale-Ghana will represent Ghana and Africa at the International Festival of Orthodox Church Music in Bialystok, Poland, a competitive festival bringing together professional and semi-professional choirs globally. This presents a platform to showcase Ghanaian choral artistry and cultural excellence.
The Choir’s international engagements continue in August 2026 at the World Choir Games in Sweden, one of the largest choral competitions worldwide. The Choir will participate in the Champions Categories, reflecting its commitment to artistic growth and cultural exchange. The Choir previously competed in the 2018 World Choir Games in South Africa, winning gold in all categories and being crowned ‘Champion of the World Choir Games’ category C-28.
October 2026 will see the Choir host a Grand Concert in Kumasi, marking the official launch of its 20th Anniversary Celebrations, commemorating two decades of musical ministry, performance, and impact, and bringing together patrons, music lovers, and stakeholders from Ghana and abroad.
The year will conclude in December with the Christmas Sing Along 4, continuing the Choir’s tradition of festive worship, community engagement, and celebration through music.
Beyond these flagship events, the Choir will conduct campus ministry engagements, reaffirming its dedication to nurturing faith, inspiring youth, and using music as a tool for spiritual formation and outreach.
Mr Armaah assured patrons and the public that the Choir remains focused on its mission to promote Ghanaian and African choral music and Western classical music while touching lives through performance, a commitment reflected across all activities in 2026.
The Choir’s Chairman of the Board of Governors, Dr George Agyekum Donkor, described 2026 as a defining chapter: “From celebrating distinguished lives and service, to competing on global stages and launching our 20th anniversary, each activity reflects our commitment to excellence, ministry, and cultural representation. We are excited to share Ghana’s choral voice with the world while deepening our impact at home.”
As 2026 unfolds, the Harmonious Chorale-Ghana remains committed to exceptional service and the promotion of choral music locally and internationally.
