Accra, Feb. 07, GNA – Mr Seidu Issifu, the Minister of State in charge of Climate Change and Sustainability, has paid a courtesy call on the management of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST Energies), as part of ongoing stakeholder engagements with key institutions in Ghana’s energy sector.
The visit, which featured high-level discussions with Madam Adwoa Serwaa Bondzie, the Deputy Managing Director, was aimed at strengthening collaboration between government institutions and strategic energy sector players such as BOST Energies.
The engagement also provided an important platform to explore how BOST Energies can align its operations with Ghana’s climate change and sustainability agenda.
A statement issued to the Ghana News Agency, said the Minister emphasised the Government’s commitment to promoting environmentally responsible practices within the energy sector, particularly in emissions reduction, energy efficiency, and the transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions.
The Minister also highlighted the strategic role BOST Energies played in ensuring national energy security and maintaining adequate fuel reserves for the country.
He encouraged management to adopt innovative and climate-smart measures, including partnerships with the Office of the Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability through its Inter-Ministerial and Technical Working Groups.
Mr Issifu noted that integrating climate-friendly technologies and strengthening safety standards would help enhance resilience and prevent environmental pollution nationwide.
He further underscored the importance of promoting the use of electric vehicles in Ghana as part of efforts to reduce emissions and create opportunities within the carbon credit market to generate revenue for the country.
The Minister reiterated the significance of inter-agency collaboration in achieving Ghana’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
He referenced Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement, which Ghana had signed onto, explaining that it provided opportunities for international carbon market mechanisms and carbon credit trading, to support sustainable development and revenue mobilisation.
Madam Adwoa Serwaa Bondzie, the Deputy Managing Director, thanked the Minister for the engagement, which she described as timely and impactful in advancing the Government’s sustainability and carbon market agenda.
She briefed the Minister on the company’s ongoing projects, including efforts to decarbonise BOST’s operations and other initiatives being undertaken in collaboration with key institutions, to improve operational efficiency and environmental performance.
Madam Bondzie reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting national climate goals, and pledged to work closely with the Minister’s Office to implement sustainable practices across its operations while contributing to economic development.
The discussions also covered opportunities for capacity building, policy alignment, and technical support to ensure BOST Energies contributed meaningfully to Ghana’s climate adaptation and mitigation efforts.
Both parties agreed on the importance of sustained collaboration to promote sustainable development within the energy sector.
The engagement concluded with a shared commitment to building a resilient and environmentally sustainable energy sector that supports Ghana’s development objectives while safeguarding the environment for future generations.
