Businesses in Obuasi and its environs urged to support the police to provide security

Bekwai (Ash), Feb. 21, GNA – Business operators and businesses in Obuasi and its surrounding communities, have been urged to support the police with logistics that will enhance their security operations in the area.

Mr George Atta, an Obuasi-based businessman and philanthropist, who made the call, said growth and successful business operations were closely linked to a peaceful and secured environment.

The role of the police in maintaining law and order to ensure that, businesses operated in a peaceful environment could not be over emphasized.

It was therefore, important for businesses in the area to provide the needed support to enable the police discharge their operational duties to protect not only life and property, but also businesses.

Mr Atta was speaking at a ceremony to present air conditioners and packs of bottled water to the Ashanti South Regional Police Command at Asante Bekwai.

“We cannot work without peace or without police protection.

That is why I took it upon myself to donate these items to support the police in their work,” he stated.

He called on fellow businessmen and women, particularly those operating in Obuasi and adjoining areas, to support security agencies in diverse ways to strengthen peace and stability across the municipality.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Mr Joseph Hammond Nyaaba, Ashanti South Police Commander, expressed appreciation to Mr. Atta for his generosity and dedication to community development.

He noted that, the air conditioners would significantly improve the working conditions of officers, while the bottled water would be useful in supporting personnel during their daily operational duties.

DCOP Nyaaba also appealed to corporate bodies, business leaders, and other stakeholders within the jurisdiction to assist the command in completing its ongoing gym center project.

He explained that the facility, when completed, would enhance the physical fitness and overall well-being of officers, thereby improving service delivery.

The donation highlights the importance of collaboration between the business community and security agencies in advancing peace, safety, and sustainable development within the Ashanti South jurisdiction.
