Benkasa (Bono), Feb. 7, GNA – Some pupils of the Benkasa District Assembly Basic School in the Berekum West District of the Bono Region were left alarmed after discovering the lifeless body of a young man in their classroom.

The Ghana News Agency (GNA) gathered that the unsuspecting children found the body of the man, believed to be in his 20s and popularly known in the Benkasa farming community as “Black,” in the early hours of Thursday, February 6, 2026, while sweeping the classroom.

Mr Isaac Diawuo, the headmaster of the school, who confirmed the incident to the GNA during a visit, said the situation disrupted academic activities.

He explained that pupils in the affected classroom had been relocated to another block to ensure teaching could continue.

He said the school authorities promptly reported the matter to the police and appealed to parents to remain calm, assuring them that the situation was under control.

A police source told the GNA that investigations were underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the young man’s death.
