Ho (V/R), Jan 26, GNA – The Volta Regional Health Directorate has clarified a viral report concerning the alleged unlawful possession of suspected narcotic substances involving one of its drivers.

The Directorate assured the public of its commitment towards ensuring integrity, accountability, and professionalism.

In a press statement dated January 25, 2026 and signed by Dr Emmanuel Atsu Dodor, the Volta Regional Director of Health Services, the Directorate said it received information on Friday, January 23, that Mr Godsway Kwaku Dogbey, a driver with the Directorate, had been arrested and detained at the Volta Regional Police Headquarters at Ho.

“Upon receiving this information, Management immediately dispatched a team to the Regional Police Headquarters to follow up on the matter. The incident was confirmed by the Police, and the driver is currently in custody assisting with investigations,” the statement said.

The Directorate further disclosed that, while the Ghana Police Service continued its investigations, it had initiated internal processes to constitute a Committee of Enquiry to independently probe the incident.

It added that additional measures were being put in place to strengthen the monitoring and tracking of all official vehicles, to prevent any recurrence.

“The Volta Regional Health Directorate remains committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, accountability, and professionalism in the delivery of health services,” the statement said.
