The sorting of ballot papers and counting have started across polling centres where there are no delegates in queues to cast their ballots.

The Police have arrested a delegate for alleged misconduct at the Odorkor Saleria Basic School polling centre in Ablekuma North Constituency.


An altercation over the party membership of an agent of Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum temporarily disrupted voting at the Friends Garden polling station in the Cape Coast South Constituency.

The said agent was accused of belonging to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), infuriating delegates and supporters who attempted to invade the inner perimeter to stop him from voting.

The swiftness and steadfastness of the police mitigated chaos and restored calm.

It was later gathered that the said agent has been a member of the New Patriotic Party, but had supported an alleged NDC candidate in the last District Assembly level elections at Brofoyedur in Cape Coast.

His alleged action dischanted some of his party members who tagged him as NDC, hence their attempt to remove him from the voting centre.

Voting has since resumed and is going on smoothly.


The prompt intervention of a police officer, with support from some onlookers, prevented a fire outbreak after a gas cylinder being used to prepare food for delegates caught fire near the Dome-Kwabenya voting centre.


Long queues continue to characterise the New Patriotic Party’s Presidential Primary at the Jamestown Police Polling Station in the Odododiodoo Constituency.

So far, 863 delegates have, however, cast their ballots at the Centre.


Mr. Clement Baidoo, President of the Tertiary Student Confederacy, an official student wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa chapter has been arrested by the police for allegedly taking a shot of his ballot paper after voting.

The incident happened at the Fiaseman Senior High School where voting of the party’s presidential aspirant is ongoing.


All is calm and orderly at the Okaikwei Central Constituency, where delegates have massed up to cast their votes.

When the Ghana News Agency visited the centre, 316 out of the 737 delegates had cast their ballots.

Reverend Opoku Agyeman, the Presiding Officer, said the process had been peaceful with no challenges so far.


Mr. Carlos Ahenkora Arhinkrah, former Member of Parliament for Tema West, has stressed the need for an end to factions and divisions within the party after today’s election.

He said the party would unite behind the winning candidate as its rallying point for the 2028 general election.

He affirmed his readiness to lead efforts to promote unity and cohesion within the constituency.


Mr Henry Quartey, the former Regional Minister for Greater Accra, has expressed confidence that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia would emerge victorious in the day’s presidential primary, adding that after the exercise, the party would rally its members for unity ahead of the 2028 general election.


IGP expresses satisfaction with security during NPP Presidential Primary

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohunu, has expressed satisfaction of the security situation in the ongoing Presidential Primary of the New Patriotic Party across the country.

The IGP made the comment when he visited the Dansoman Police Polling Station in the Ablekuma West Constituency.


As of 1150 hours, a total of 1,546 delegates, representing 85 per cent of voters in Dome-Kwabenya had cast their ballot.


Giving T&T not vote buying — Hanson Nortey

Mr Yves Hanson Nortey, former MP for Tema Central, has said that providing stipends for transport or “TNT” (Travel and Transport) to delegates is standard practice and should not be misconstrued as vote buying.


Mr Justin Frimpong Kodua, the NPP General Secretary, said all five aspirants have personally assured him of their support to the winner of today’s primary.

He lauded the Electoral Commission, the Police and the delegates for their comportment and professionalism throughout the election.


Delegates at the Valco Park polling centre in Tema Central, are being treated to breakfast as the primary is underway.

He said, this elections could foster peace and unity in the party.


Voting is proceeding smoothly in the Bawku Central Constituency where a total of 822 delegates are expected to cast their votes at the Bawku Police Station.


NPP General Secretary commends conduct of polls

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Justin Frimpong Kodua, has commended the conduct of the party’s ongoing presidential primary, describing the process as smooth and peaceful across the country.

Speaking to reporters at the Party’s headquarters in Accra, after receiving updates from various constituencies, Mr. Kodua said reports indicated that the exercise had been orderly, with delegates turning out in large numbers to cast their ballots without incident.

He emphasised that the peaceful nature of the polls reflected the maturity of the party’s grassroots and their commitment to democratic values.


As at 8:20am, a total of 40 delegates cast their votes at the Jubilee Park in the Tamale Central Constituency.

A total of 922 delegates are expected to cast their votes at this polling station.

The polling station is surrounded by Police officers as delegates file a long queue outside the inner perimeter where the voting is taking place.


Voting is underway at the Juaso Senior High School in the Asante-Akim South Constituency, where 874 delegates are expected to vote.


Voting at the Subin Constituency of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Presidential primary began at exactly at 7:00 am at the Prempeh Assembly Hall.

A total of 929 delegates are expected to cast their votes.

When the GNA got there at 7:32 am, a total of 17 people had already cast their votes.

Madam HillGard Ofori Quarshie, the Electoral Officer said the Police Officers had ensured orderliness before the start of the election.

She was optimistic that delegates would adhere to the rules and regulations to ensure a smooth exercise.

Mr Kofi Obiri Yeboah, MP for Subin, was spotted casting his vote at 07:35 am.

Mr Eugene Boakye Antwi and Mr S.K Boafo, former MPs among others are expected to vote in the constituency.

Hon. Joseph Osei Owusu urges calm as NPP Presidential Primary Election gets underway

The Chairperson of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Election Committee, Hon. Joseph Osei Owusu, has called on party delegates to remain calm and vigilant as the party goes to the polls to elect its flagbearer.

Hon. Osei Owusu gave the advice after casting his vote earlier today.

The former Member of Parliament for the Bekwai Constituency emphasized the need for peace, order, and discipline throughout the electoral process.

Speaking to the media, he explained that voting officially commenced at 7:00 a.m. and will end at 2:00 p.m. at all designated polling centers across the country.

He further noted that votes would be counted and results declared at the various polling centers before being forwarded to the regional centers for collation. The final results would then be transmitted to the national center for the official declaration.

Hon. Joseph Osei Owusu urged all delegates and party officials to, strictly, adhere to the rules and regulations governing the election, stressing that compliance would ensure a transparent, credible, and peaceful exercise.

More than 30 police personnel have been deployed to the Dzodze RC Demonstration Basic School in the Ketu North Constituency, where a total of 790 New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates are expected to cast their ballots to elect the party’s flagbearer.

Voting commenced promptly at 0700 hours and is scheduled to close at 1400 hours, after which counting will begin.

As of 0721 hours, when the Ghana News Agency (GNA) visited the polling centre, 24 delegates had already cast their votes.

Mr Dominic Agbanu, the Returning Officer, explained that even if all delegates vote before the official closing time, the process will remain open until 1400 hours before counting commences, in line with established electoral procedures.

GNA understands that the conduct of the election has been formally handed over to the Police and Electoral Commission (EC) officials, accounting for the heightened security presence at the centre.

The security deployment is intended to ensure a peaceful, transparent, and credible process, while maintaining law and order throughout the exercise.

Observers, party agents, were also present to monitor the process, as delegates queued calmly to cast their votes, reflecting a generally calm atmosphere at the polling station.


Voting is ongoing peacefully at the Bantama Constituency of the Kumasi Metropolitan Area as delegates queue to elect the NPP’s flagbearer for the 2028 Presidential election.

Voting started at 7:00am according to Madam HillGard Ofori Quarshie, the Electoral Officer. A total of 929 delegates are expected to vote.

Delegates including Mr Kofi Obiri Yeboah, MP for Subin, Mr Eugene Boakye Antwi and Mr S.K Boafo, former MPs will be voting in the Constituency.


Mr. Nii Lante Bannerman, the Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the Odododiodio Constituency in the 2020 elections, has called for unity among members of the party within the constituency to brighten its chances in upcoming national elections.

He spoke to journalists at the James Town Polling Station in the Odododiodio Constituency where he cast his ballot.


Mr Eric Kofi Nyame, a physically challenged delegate (has difficulty in walking), has successfully cast his ballot.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Mr Nyame said, he was motivated to participate in the voting exercise out of his strong determination to help choose a candidate he believed could lead the party to victory in the 2028 general elections.

He urged all delegates to turn out in their numbers to vote, and avoid waiting until the last minute.

Mr Nyame also appealed for peace and unity among party members as the exercise continued.


Voting is ongoing at the Fiaseman Senior High in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem constituency. 140 police officers have been deployed to the center.

Polls have commenced at the Odorkor Saleria Basic School Polling Centre in the Ablekuma North Constituency.


Voting has begun at Nungua in the Krowor Constituency under a calm and orderly atmosphere.

The exercise, which is being held at the Preseco One and Two polling stations, commenced promptly at 0700 hours, with about 1,200 registered delegates expected to cast their ballots.

Madam Gifty Akorful, the District Electoral Officer, told the Ghana News Agency that the voting process had started smoothly, and appealed to agents and delegates to remain calm and strictly adhere to the rules and regulations governing the exercise, stressing that the primaries were an internal party activity that required discipline and mutual respect.

The NPP presidential primary form part of preparations to elect a flagbearer for the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
