Aworano, (Bono East), Jan. 28, GNA – Residents in the Techiman North District of the Bono East Region have expressed excitement about the progressive rehabilitation of bad roads in the area.
They credited the reshaping of the roads to efforts by Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry and the Member of Parliament for Techiman North and commended her for her passion for development.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Aworano, Mr David Sonti Assemblymember for the Aworano Electoral Area in the district noted that the deplorable conditions of the road network were worrying, slowing down economic activities in the area.
He said that: “The bad condition of roads here has been a great worry and challenge to the people.
However, we are now excited that our hardworking MP facilitated the rehabilitation of our roads and to enhance healthcare, education and ready markets for our farm produce and thereby push forward the development”.
Mr Sonti noted that present reshaping of the 8.7 kilometer stretch in the area would open up the local communities, drive investments, and greatly facilitate the holistic development of the area.
He said because that particular stretch linked together communities like Jama, Aworano and Krobo, farmers in the area could easily access marketing centers to sell their farm produce.
Mr James Opoku, the Techiman North Deputy Constituency Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) also commended the MP and the government, testifying that about 50 percent of the deplorable conditions of roads in the area had been awarded on contract.
Mr Johnson Adom, the Techiman North District Chief Executive Officer, also commended the MP for her hard work, saying that she remained committed towards bringing the development of the area to the next level.
He said as a farming area, the district required to improve road network and commended the MP and the government for enhancing the progressive development of the district.
Mr Stephen Quinoo, the Bono East Regional Manager of the Feeder Roads, told the GNA that the on-going construction work of the 8.7-kilometer Kenten-Aworano road in the district was about 50 percent complete.
