Residents of Keta express satisfaction with one year of Mahama administration

Keta (VR), Jan. 08, GNA – Some Residents in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region, have expressed satisfaction with the first year of President John Dramani Mahama’s government, praising the positive policies put in place. 

They believed that one year after being sworn in, President Mahama’s administration had demonstrated and implemented initiatives that aimed at resetting, rebuilding, and renewing the country. 

Mr Noah Agbemabiese, a resident of Abor in Keta the  municipality, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, expressed happiness about the government’s efforts, noting positive impacts made in their lives and communities. 

“The policies of President Mahama administration such as the big push projects, free sanitary pad delivery to girls’ students, no fee stress initiative, Mahama cares social protection framework among others are commendable as key drivers of development and progress,” he said. 

He also acknowledged improvements in various sectors  of the economy, agriculture, energy, education, healthcare, infrastructure, private sector, among others, that had contributed to the development and progress of the nation. 

He said these could be attributed to the hard works and dedication of President Mahama over his one year in office. 

He said that many people  had already appreciated the government’s focus on rebuilding and renewing infrastructure that had transformed various sectors and improved the quality of life of many communities including vulnerable ones. 

“The economic initiatives under the Mahama government have reportedly boosted local businesses in the Keta municipality,” saying the second coming of Mahama and within his first years in power had really changed the narrative and given hope to people.  

Ms Ama Dzidedi Agbeko, a business woman at Keta, also express her optimism about future developments under the current administration and stated that although the inflation rate had dropped but selling and buying were on a very slow pace, which needed urgent attention in Mahama’s second year. 

She said that Mahama’s one-year administration was full of better promises with the economy showing a significant growth, expanding  by 6.1 per cent in the first three quarters of the 2025, with inflation declining from 23 per cent at the end of the year 2024 to 6.5 per cent in December 2025. 

She said the Ghana medical Trust Fund initiative by the government to support persons living with non-communicable diseases, and the Universal Health Coverage programme aimed to guarantee medical attention for all, were commendable and needed to be supported. 

She further appealed to the government to speed up their works to construct community roads under the big push initiative for easy movement and transportation, as well as strengthen the energy sector for sustainable electricity power supply to drive works and economic activities in the communities.  

Some other residents GNA interviewed expressed satisfaction with the first one year of President Mahama’s Government and appealed for stronger and better policies, to create more employment opportunities  for the youths. 

Meanwhile, a non-denominational Thanksgiving service has been organised in Accra to mark one year of President Mahama’s Presidency. 

The event also emphasised the themes of resetting, rebuilding, and renewing Ghana under President Mahama’s leadership.
