Dambai (O/R), Jan. 23, GNA – Mr John Kwadwo Gyapong, Oti Regional Minister, has called on the church to collaborate with the government to accelerate development in the region.
He made the call at a meeting with the Local Council of Churches in Dambai, stressing the need for strong partnerships between the church and the state to advance peace, unity, and sustainable development.
The engagement sought to deepen understanding of decentralization and explore joint strategies for inclusive development, peacebuilding, and citizen participation.
Mr Gyapong reaffirmed government’s commitment to strengthening state–church relations, acknowledging the church’s role in shaping societal values and nurturing responsible citizenship.
The church leaders pledged their support for government initiatives but raised concerns about pressing issues in the area.
Bishop John Pang-Moot, Chairman of the Local Council of Churches, appealed for the establishment of a hospital in Dambai to improve healthcare delivery, citing the municipality’s growing population and its status as the regional capital.
He also urged the government to create opportunities for clergy to undertake spiritual enrichment trips abroad, particularly to Israel, noting that colleagues in other regions had benefited from such initiatives.
Other leaders, including Mr Prosper Anku and Reverend Noah Adeti, commended the minister for engaging with them and recognized government’s efforts to involve the church in development programmes. They showcased their contributions to local development, reaffirming their commitment to partnering with the state.
