Accra, Jan. 31, GNA – Mr. Eric Kofi Nyame, a physically challenged delegate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has cast his ballot in the ongoing NPP presidential primaries.
Mr. Nyame travelled from Lapaz to the Ayawaso Central Constituency voting centre at the Alajo Presby Park, where he was assisted by a family member and used crutches.
He told the Ghana News Agency that his participation was motivated by the desire to help choose a capable candidate to lead the Party in the 2028 general elections.
“This primary is important because it helps us select a competent candidate for the 2028 elections. If you stay at home and decide not to vote, others will choose a candidate you may not support.
“That is what motivated me to come out, whether rain or shine, to add my vote to the numbers so that my preferred candidate can win,” he said.
Mr. Nyame urged delegates to demonstrate commitment to the Party by turning out early to vote.
He also appealed for peace and unity during the exercise.

“This is an internal contest, and we are to use our thumbs to choose our preferred candidates, not our fists. Let us cast our votes peacefully and abide by all the laid-down rules,” he advised.
Five aspirants – Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr Bryan Acheampong, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum and Mr. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong – are contesting the presidential primaries.
Nationwide, 211,849 delegates are expected to vote at 333 polling centres across 276 constituencies. Polling opened at 0700 hours and is scheduled to close at 1400 hours.
The exercise is expected to produce a flagbearer to lead the Party in the 2028 presidential election.
