Sandema (U/E), Jan. 01, GNA – Pastor Andrew Kwame Mensah, the Head Pastor of the Church of Pentecost in Sandema, has called on Christians to continue to have hope and trust in God for His blessings and favour in 2026.
“I want to admonish all Christians that we should continue to have hope and trust in the Lord. For 2026, the Lord is going to do something great in our lives. We should expect the grace and glory of God, and prosperity in all aspects of our lives,” he said.
Pastor Mensah said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sandema, prior to delivering his sermon at the December 31st night church service to usher in the New Year.
Christians, most of whom were dressed in white apparels, thronged various church auditoriums at about 2000 hours GMT in the Sandema township, to thank God for seeing them through 2025.
At the Church of Pentecost, amidst singing, dancing and praises to God, Pastor Mensah said even though 2026 may come with challenges, he was assuring Christians across the country that God would not abandon them.
“In spite of all challenges that may come in 2026, I want to assure Christians and the entire nation that we should expect something wonderful from our God,” he said.
He further called for honesty, faithfulness, diligence and hard work among Ghanaians both in the government and private sectors, and stressed the need for Christians to focus on God’s plan for them.
Touching on deviant behaviours, especially substance abuse among the youth, Pastor Mensah advised the youth against the use of illicit drugs.
He warned that such drugs were dangerous to their health, emotions and physical life, adding that there was no way anyone could survive or succeed in life with substance abuse.
The Pastor also expressed concern about the misuse of social media among the youth, and noted that some youth created bad contents on social media just to attract viewers irrespective of the consequences.
He noted that social media does not forget, and that one day, such bad contents could be used against them in their future endeavours saying, “I advise the youth to use social media wisely.
“Make sure you post good and life-transforming contents that will bring you promotion in life,” the cleric admonished the youth.
Some church members in separate interviews with the GNA, expressed gratitude to God for the gift of life and for blessing them with good health throughout 2025, and prayed for His guidance, protection, grace, prosperity and good health for themselves, their families and friends in 2026.
