Klefe (V/R), Jan. 01 GNA – Reverend Richard Mawutor Buamah, the Klefe District Pastor of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana Thursday stated that Christians who trust and obey God experience growth that shaped their character.

He said it also deepened their faith and strengthen their service to humanity.

Rev. Buamah stated this in a sermon at the crossover night service of the Klefe Kpodzi congregation of the EPCG.

The sermon which was on the theme: “growth in maturity” was taken from Numbers 6: 22 – 27, Galatians 4: 4 – 7 and Luke 2: 15 – 21.

Rev. Buamah who is also an Environmental Analyst noted that growth in maturity was God’s gracious work of empowering a person to become what they were designed and redeemed to be.

He said it was also the process by which God nurtured Christians spiritually, morally and responsibly to live according to His divine purpose.

Rev. Buamah noted that God nurtured his people through his grace, discipline and favour to enable them to grow in maturity to live according to His will.

He said that this growth touched both their spiritual lives and their daily responsibilities.

Rev. Buamah also described growth in maturity as the experience of divine guidance, mercy and goodness which shaped the lives of Christians.

He said this growth began with God’s sustaining presence as all growth came from Him.

Rev. Buamah stated that one mistake Christians made was they assumed that maturity always meant comfort, success or outward prosperity.

He noted that maturity could even came through discipline or correction.

Rev. Buamah reminded them that life was a gift from God so they should surrender their lives to Him and also use their lives for God’s intended purpose.

He said whatever struggles they carried into the new year they should remember that God was not far from them adding “God understands our human weaknesses and patiently works in them to produce maturity.”

Rev. Buamah urged them to strive for righteousness, justice, mercy and fairness in the new year.

He advised them to respond to the needs of others with compassion without expecting rewards.

He said their acts of love for others demonstrated the unconditional love God has for humanity adding “maturity brings humility and obedience to others.”
