Dambai (O/R), Jan 26, GNA – The Local Council of Churches in the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region is calling on the government to support Ghanaian Christians to undertake pilgrimages to the Holy Land in Jerusalem and Israel.
Bishop John Pang-Moot, Chairman of the Local Council of Churches, and Pastor Moro Mohammed, Spokespersons of the Churches said visiting the land where Jesus was born, preached, performed miracles, died, and rose from the dead is a transformative experience that could deepen one’s faith and connection with God.
“It is an experience every Christian should have at least once in their lifetime. Imagine walking in the footsteps of Jesus, visiting sites such as the Church of the Nativity, the Mount of Beatitudes, the Via Dolorosa, and the Holy Sepulchre,” they said.
They noted that the pilgrimage offers unparalleled opportunities for spiritual growth and immersion in the stories of salvation and redemption.
The church leaders urged the government to provide support for Christians to make the journey, citing the precedent of government assistance for Muslim pilgrims to Mecca.
The call has been echoed by other religious bodies across the Oti region, who believe that such a pilgrimage would strengthen the faith of Ghanaian Christians and contribute to national development goals.
