James Gunu earns 2025 Top 100 Ghanaians Powerlist recognition honour

Ho (V/R), Jan. 20, GNA – Mr James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, has earned recognition on the 2025 Top 100 Ghanaians Powerlist compiled by Avance Media, drawing widespread commendation from residents of Ho. 

He has been named among the 2025 Top 100 Ghanaians Powerlist, a development warmly received in Ho and the wider Volta Region. 

The Top 100 Ghanaians Powerlist is an annual publication that celebrates individuals whose influence and leadership shape Ghana’s political, economic, social and cultural landscape. 

Curated across 10 categories, the list covers governance, civil society, business, media, sports, religion, traditional leadership, education, law and national security. 

Residents described the recognition as well deserved, noting that it reflects the Minister’s leadership style and commitment to inclusive governance since assuming office. 

Mr Bright Delali Agordzo, Volta Regional Chairman of the Ghana Red Cross Society, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the honour had brought pride to the region and strengthened public confidence in its leadership. 

He said being counted among the nation’s most influential personalities placed Ho and the Volta region firmly on the national map. 

Mr Christian Youngs, Ho Municipal Director of NADMO and a youth leader in Ho, said the recognition showed that dedication to public service did not go unnoticed, adding that it would inspire young people to aspire to leadership and community service. 

Reacting to the honour, Mr Gunu expressed gratitude to the organisers of the Powerlist and attributed the achievement to teamwork, collaboration and the support of the people of the Volta region. 

“My office remains open to all, and I believe inclusive leadership and collective effort are key to driving development,” he stated. 

He said the recognition would further motivate him to deepen stakeholder engagement and pursue policies that directly improve livelihoods across the region. 

The 2025 edition features personalities from the Volta region, including Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Togbe Afede XIV, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, Ibrahim-Tanko Amidu and Antoine Semenyo, alongside national figures such as President John Dramani Mahama, Speaker Alban Bagbin, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie and Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang. 

Mr Richard Kasu, Chief Executive Officer of Community Focus Foundation Ghana, expressed the hope that the recognition would translate into accelerated development and stronger national advocacy for the region.
