Abuakwa (Ash), Jan. 26, GNA – Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, has pledged to unite and work with all other contestants in the race if elected as the flagbearer of the party.
He said it would require the collective efforts of all aspirants to strengthen the party’s ranks and win the confidence of the masses ahead of the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections.
Dr Bawumia made the pledge when he addressed delegates in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Constituency at Abuakwa, as part of his final campaign tour of the Ashanti Region before the presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.
He stressed that although he was confident of victory in the primaries, he remained cautious in his utterances and campaign messages about his counterparts.
This, he explained, was crucial because negative comments during internal contests could later be used by opponents from other political parties.
Dr Bawumia appealed to delegates to elect him to ensure a resounding victory for the party in the 2028 elections.
Mr Stephen Boateng, the Constituency Chairperson, assured that he and other executives would continue to render selfless service to help the party regain power in the next elections.
He disclosed that about 1,000 delegates from the constituency, including polling station and constituency executives, council of elders, and electoral area coordinators, were expected to vote in the upcoming presidential primary.
Mr Boateng called for peace, unity, and understanding before, during, and after the primaries.
