Dzudzorli Gakpey cuts sod for classroom blocks, CHPS compounds

Anlo-Afiadenyigba (VR), Jan. 17, GNA- Mr Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey, the Keta Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) in the Volta Region, has cut sod for some development projects in five communities.

The event, which marked a significant step towards transforming lives and uplifting education and healthcare standards in the Keta Municipality, brought hope to the people.

The communities benefiting from the projects were Abutiakorpe, Anlo Afiadenyigba, Tengekope, Atiavi-Atime, and Seva.

Each community would receive a much-needed project, including an Early Childhood Development Centre, a classroom blocks, and fully equipped CHPS Compounds with staff accommodation.

Mr Gakpey, during the sod-cutting ceremony, expressed gratitude to the people for their support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 general elections and emphasised his commitment to the development of Keta Municipality.

“The projects are expected to be completed within six months to ease the suffering of residents and enhance access to quality education and healthcare in the beneficiary communities and beyond,” he said.

He also assured the communities of more transformational projects to come and pledged that the government’s commitment to people-centered development and to expand essential social infrastructure across the region to contribute to the progress of the country.

Mr Gakpey explained that the sod-cutting ceremony demonstrated good governance delivery, with the people of Keta Municipality reaping the benefits of their support for the NDC while the projects would bring hope and opportunities to the communities as well as improve the quality of life for residents.

“The communities have witnessed a remarkable show of commitment to grassroots development, and we are working tirelessly to address many more challenges. I hope these projects will have a lasting impact on education and healthcare delivery to benefit generations.

This is just the beginning of many more development projects that are yet to come, and no community within our jurisdiction will be left out.”

He stated that development projects were part of the government’s broader agenda to drive progress and prosperity in the region, to impact meaningfully on the development of the communities, and mentioned that he previously initiated projects such as the rural electrification project, which is near completion to connect several other communities to the national grid among others.

Mr Wisdom Seade, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Keta, who also witnessed the ceremony, urged community members to take ownership of the projects and cooporate with the workers for successful completion and maintenance to reshape and uplift the development standards of the communities.

He said that the ceremony was a celebration of potentials the various communities have and the commitment by the government and promised that the projects would have a lasting impact on the lives of the beneficiary residents.

Mr Emmanuel Kona, the Keta Municipal Health Director, commended the MP, MCE and the entire President John Mahama led National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration for prioritising the welfare of citizenry with the project that are expected to significantly boost service delivery and improve healthcare access and education standards across Keta Municipality.

He said the efforts have demonstrated the dedication and commitment to the development of the municipality and urged the beneficiary communities to grab the opportunity and support the construction of the facilities.

Mr Anthony Kofi Agboba, a resident of Atiave-Atime, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, expressed joy over the initiative and thanked the MP for the kind gesture that would enable transform the communities for the best.

He said,” indeed the message is clear, the votes of the good people of Keta municipality are yielding a tangible development, and this sod-cutting serves as a testimony that good governance delivers results.”

The sod-cutting ceremony at the communities were highly attended by chiefs, assembly members, stakeholders, among others amidst cultural performance by various drumming groups.
