Abenbebom (WR), June 19, GNA – The Apremdo traditional leaders together with Market Queens of the Apremdo market have performed the requisite traditional rites to “open” the market.
The Apremdo market located in the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipality, popularly known as Abenbebom, had been in the news over the last 25 or more years for the wrong reasons of abandonment and waste of state resources.
The Effia Kwesimintsim Municipality (EKMA) took a decision of relocating traders from the Jubilee Park to the market to revamp the area.
Though, the initial relocation was met with resistance, the market women and traders there now have a sigh of relief since they have a “good” and permanent place to make ends meet.
Their only burden was the urgent need for the market gods to be pacified and prayed to to make business worth doing.
Madam Esi Gyaba, a lead market queen flanked by other queens said, “we are happy that finally the rites have been performed…markets all over the country undergo such rites to attract blessings from the gods of the land, we have been here since Thursday and are glad that today we are climaxing the whole traditional rites”.
Nana Egya Kwamina XI, the Chief of Apremdo, who supervised the rites with the Palace elders said every land must undergo a committal rites for ancestral blessings, hence the significance of the traditional rites to ensure that the traders were accepted and blessed by the gods to excel in business.
He cautioned against unwarranted quarrels and curses among the traders.
