Do not be discouraged by your present circumstances – Rev Agbetsiafa urges Christians

Ho (V/R), Jan 04, GNA – Reverend Alfred Agbetsiafa, Ho-Fiave District Pastor of The Church of Pentecost, has encouraged Christians not to be discouraged by their present circumstances, reminding them that with God all things are possible.

Delivering a sermon on the topic: “You Bethlehem,” based on Matthew 2:6, Rev. Agbetsiafa said believers must cling to God in faith, assuring them that He is able to grant the desires of their hearts.

He said this during the first Sunday service of the year at the Ho-Fiave Assembly of The Church of Pentecost in the Ho Municipality.

Rev. Agbetsiafa explained that Bethlehem was once regarded as a small and insignificant town, a place from which no one expected anything good to emerge.

However, prophecy declared otherwise, stating that Bethlehem was not as small as it seemed, but rather the greatest among the cities of Judah because a great King would be born there.

According to him, many doubted the prophecy, yet it came to pass with the birth of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world, in Bethlehem. From that moment, he said, the story of Bethlehem changed forever, transforming it into one of the most renowned cities in the world and bringing honour and recognition to its people.

Rev Agbetsiafa noted that Jesus Christ brought salvation not only to Bethlehem but to the world. Quoting 1 Peter 2:9 and Colossians 1:27, he said Christ now lives in believers, making them the new “Bethlehem” and the hope of glory.

He stated that through Christ, believers were no longer insignificant but have become great, valued, and respected, describing them as kings, scholars, and a royal priesthood chosen by God to proclaim His greatness.

“Though we were once disregarded, Christ in us has given us value,” he said, adding that “He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world.”

Rev. Agbetsiafa emphasised that believers do not walk alone, as Christ lives in them, walks with them, watches over them, and guides them.

He urged Christians to live holy and pleasing lives, reflecting the higher ground on which God has established them.

He encouraged believers to see themselves as great and to walk daily in the holiness of God, knowing that their position in Christ is greater than that of earthly kings.
