Chief appeals for urgent development support

Wabilinsa (U/E), Jan. 28, GNA – Nab Amos Ajudiok Ayisobsa, the Chief of Wiak Wabilinsa in the Builsa North Municipality, has appealed for urgent development interventions to address critical gaps in electricity, healthcare, education and water access in the community.

The Chief made the appeal in a speech read on his behalf at the maiden Wabilinsa youth feok celebration, organised to promote unity and community development. He said the lack of basic social infrastructure continued to hinder growth and improved livelihoods in the area.

Nab Ayisobsa noted that communities such as Tuusa-Akpiok Yeri and parts of Nangaandem-Azeda Yeri remained unconnected to the national electricity grid, limiting economic activities and social integration. He also lamented the absence of Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds and inadequate educational facilities, which restricted access to basic healthcare and quality education.

The Chief thanked Mr James Agalga, the Member of Parliament for the area, and the Municipal Assembly for renovating a three-unit classroom block and appealed for its expansion to a six-unit block to support full primary education.

He also commended Mr Thomas Kofi Alonsi, the New Patriotic Party’s 2024 Parliamentary Candidate, for constructing and furnishing a six-unit classroom block for the Wabilinsa Model Girls Junior High School.

On water, Nab Ayisobsa said access to potable water remained a major concern, noting that a planned borehole at Sariyeri would be inadequate for the growing population. He therefore called on government agencies and benevolent organisations for additional support.

He praised the Wabilinsa youth for organising the feok celebration, describing their commitment as a “beacon of hope” for sustained community-led development.
