Koraso Nkantaka (Bono), Jan 08, GNA- Mr. Dickson Kwabena Kyere -Duah, the Member of Parliament for Berekum West, has handed over two mechanised boreholes to the Koraso Nkantanka community in the Bono Region.
The boreholes, situated at strategic farm locations, aims at providing farmers with reliable access to water during dry periods to reduce the need for long and arduous trips to distant water sources.
The project is a fulfillment of a promise made by the MP during the 2024 elections campaign, with the aim of improving agricultural performance and resilience in the area.
Farmers at Koraso Denkyempeam and Pruso Sargent Nkwanta are to benefit from the installations, which aim to enhance their livelihoods and contribute to the district’s overall food security.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, (GNA) at Berekum, Mr. Dickson Kyere Duah emphasised that the borehole project was just the beginning of the efforts to support farming communities in Berekum West.
He said the construction of the borehole became necessary since Farmer have been struggling with access to water for irrigation.
“We are committed to providing more interventions to address the concerns of our farmers and improve their access to potable water,” Mr Kyere-Duah said.
Mr Collins Asomah, the District Chief Executive and the MP, oversaw the completion of the project, demonstrating their commitment to collaborative development efforts.
Mr. Rexford Asomah, Assembly Member for Bommosadu Electoral Area in Koraso, commended the MP and District Chief Executive for the provsion of the boreholes
Mr. Asomah also appealed to the MP to consider reshaping the roads linking their farms to facilitate easy transportation of farm products and further enhancing the lives of farmers in the area.
He noted that the borehole project is expected to boost the local economy to improve agricultural productivity and contribute to the development of the district.
As the Berekum West MP continues to deliver on his promises, constituents are hopeful that more initiatives will be forthcoming to support the growth and prosperity of the district.
