Berekum Court remands man over attempted murder charges

Accra, Jan. 8, GNA – The Berekum Circuit Court, presided over by Mr Osei Kofi Amoako, has remanded Emmanuel Yeboah into police custody over charges of attempted murder and causing harm.

Police Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the Public Relations Officer of the Bono Regional Police Command, said in a press release copied to the Ghana News Agency that Yeboah was arrested on January 3, 2026.

He explained that the arrest followed a reported attack in which two persons sustained multiple injuries, prompting swift action by the Bono Regional Police Command.

Preliminary investigations indicated that Yeboah ambushed the victims—his brother and his brother’s wife—while they were on their way to a disputed cashew farm.

The attack is believed to have been triggered by a long-standing dispute over ownership of the farm.

Chief Inspector Akeelah said the police retrieved a cutlass as an exhibit.

The court heard that the victims are currently on admission at a health facility, where they are receiving medical treatment.

Yeboah is expected to reappear before the Berekum Circuit Court on January 12, 2026, for the continuation of proceedings.
