Asikuma accident victims laid to rest at Asuopri

Asuopri (WN/R), Jan. 22, GNA – The seven victims of a fatal accident at Asikuma in the Bia West District of the Western North Region were laid to rest on Thursday.  

The accident, which occurred on January 7, 2026, around 7:00 am, involved a tricycle transporting the victims to their farm, collided with a truck loaded with logs. 

The deceased are Mr Isaac Acquah, 64, and his wife, Mrs Elizabeth Asiedu, 53, and Madam   Dora Asiedu 64, the elder sister of Mrs Elizabeth Asiedu. 

The rest are, Madam Akua Bronya, 70, Madam Yaa Ampomah, 70, Madam Ama Yamoah, 62, and Madam Cecelia Samaah, 55. 

Reverend Anthony Abekah Addae of Esaam Methodist Church, who officiated the burial service, emphasised the inevitability of death and urged Christians to lead exemplary lives. “Let’s be reminded that heaven is won or lost right here on earth,” he stressed. 

Mr Wilbert Petty Brentum, Western North Regional Minister, expressed shock at the news and commiserated with the bereaved family.  

He extended the President’s condolences to the family and the Asuopri community. 

The Regional Minister was accompanied by Mr Amadu Tanko, Member of Parliament for Bia West, Mr Matthew Annor, Bia West DCE, and other regional executives of the National Democratic Congress. 

The bereaved families and community members gathered to bid farewell to their loved ones, remembering their contributions to the community. 

The burial ceremony was a solemn occasion, with many mourners paying their last respects to the deceased.
