Techiman (Bono East), Jan 14, GNA – Four thousand, eight hundred and seventy-six young people are currently undergoing a rigorous police recruitment exercise at Techiman in the Bono East Region with the aim of joining the Ghana Police Service.

The exercise, which commenced on Tuesday, is being conducted in phases, with the first phase comprising graduates and professionals, including lawyers, teachers, journalists, medical officers, doctors, nurses, and administrators.

Assistant Superintendent   of Police (ASP) Mr. Appiah Danquah, Bono East Regional Staff Officer and Acting Public Relations Officer, confirmed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) during the exercise at Techiman.

He stated that the process has been smooth, with no reported cases of casualties or fake documents.

“The applicants have been very cooperative and comporting themselves well and I hope that the applicants will qualify to join the service and serve the country,” ASP Danquah said.

The recruitment exercise is a joint effort involving other sister security agencies, including the Ghana National Fire Service, National Emergency Ambulance Service, Ghana Prison Service, Immigration Services and the National Investigation Bureau.

ASP Danquah explained that the applicants were undergoing various assessments, including documentation, body selection, and physical exercises, to determine their fitness for training.

COP Suraji commended the applicants for their comportment and reiterated the Police Service administration’s commitment to absorbing all qualified candidates for training. “Policing is all about sacrifice and dedication and we expect you to serve with integrity and a good mindset,” he said.

To avoid a stampede, the recruiting unit would create three enlistment centers in the Techiman Metropolis on Thursday to receive applicants with Senior High School certificates who may come in large numbers.

The five-day recruitment exercise is expected to enlist regular career and commissioned officers to serve in the Ghana Police Service and contribute to protecting lives and property, he added.

The Ghana Police Service is optimistic that the recruitment exercise will be completed successfully, and the new recruits will be integrated into the service to enhance security and safety in the country.
