La MP fetes aged, PWDs to mark Christmas festivities

Accra, Dec. 27, GNA — Madam Rita Odoley Sowah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for La Dadekotopon, has feted the aged, Persons With Disability(PWD) , and children in the constituency as part of activities marking the Christmas festivities.

The invited guests to the event, which was held at the forecourt of the La Traditional Council, were lavished with food, drinks and music as they interacted in a warm and festive atmosphere.

Addressing the gathering, Madam Odoley Sowah said the gesture which aimed at demonstrating love and compassion to the beneficiaries, also sought to recognise their contributions to national development, particularly the aged.

On the relevance of the season, she said Christmas was a period of sharing, and urged people in privileged positions to support the vulnerable in their communities.

“Let us all in our small way support the people around us, and together we will make a big difference,” she said.

The MP who reaffirmed her commitment to promoting inclusive development and social protection programmes that would enhance the living conditions of the aged and PWDs in the constituency, also called on families, religious, and corporate organizations to support efforts aimed at improving the welfare of the vulnerable.

She also presented Christmas hampers, including foodstuffs to the guests.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), expressed appreciation to the MP for the gesture, describing it as timely and beneficial.

They offered prayers for the MP and pledged their continued support for initiatives that promoted inclusiveness and social protection within the constituency
