Kumasi, Dec. 11, GNA – The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has announced its intention to conduct a special clean-up exercise across the entire metropolis on December 13, 2025, from 0600 hours to 1200 hours.
The exercise, which is in line with the government’s vision to hold a monthly clean-up exercise in the country, will target particularly some poor sanitation areas within the central business district in the metropolis.
In a statement released by the KMA on its Facebook page, the sanitation exercise would cover areas like the Otumfuo roundabout at Kejetia, through to the MTN office area at Adehyeman and to the Kumasi Zoo roundabout.
Other areas are the Roman Hill down to Aboabo station crossroads through Alabar to Apagyafie crossroads in Ashtown, through Dr Mensah to Asanteman Senior High School.
The KMA stated that during the stipulated period of the exercise, no vehicular movement would be allowed in those areas.

This is to help prevent interruptions and ensure the success of the exercise.
The Assembly, therefore, called on all residents and business operators within the metropolis to embrace the initiative and participate wholeheartedly in the exercise to keep the metropolis clean.
The Ghana News Agency has been observing for some time now and had captured the poor sanitation situation at the Otumfuo roundabout area at the Kejetia and other parts of the central business district of Kumasi.
Many dustbins filled to the brim with rubbish are parked just opposite the Otumfuo statue at the roundabout, whiles other wastes are heaped at designated pedestrian walkways.
This unconcerned act of poor sanitation threatens the health of traders and marketers as businesses activities begin to intensify ahead of the Christmas festivities.
It is important for the KMA to tighten its regulations and enforcement in ensuring good sanitation practices in the central business district to protect the health of traders, customers and pedestrians.
