Kadjebi (O/R), Dec. 11, GNA – Trainees by Iseguri Initiative, a Kadjebi-based Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), have come tops as outstanding contributors during the 41st National Farmers’ Day celebration held at Kecheibi in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region.

The event, which took place on December 5, 2025, brought together farmers, traditional authorities, agricultural officers, and community stakeholders to celebrate excellence, innovation, and resilience in Ghana’s agricultural sector.

It also highlighted the critical contributions of women farmers who continue to play leading roles in food production and rural development.

Two out of three women’s groups trained under its climate-smart agriculture programme, emerged as top performers, and received awards as Municipal Best Farmer-Based Organisations.

These were the Litafasonl Cassava and Gari Processors from Ashiabre and the Climate Smart Change Group.

A major highlight of the event was the recognition of Madam Bintu Inusah, a 45-year-old single mother of four, who was adjudged the Best Female Farmer for the Nkwanta South Municipality.

Madam Inusah cultivates 18 acres of cassava, 25 acres of rice, 2 acres each of yam, groundnuts, and beans, and 1 acre of sorghum. She also manages an impressive livestock population consisting of five cows, 123 goats, and 600 local poultry.

Her story, widely admired by participants, was described as an inspiring testimony to perseverance, women’s empowerment, and the transformative impact of training in modern agricultural practices.

Other honourees included the Best Regional Female Farmer, Madam Lictica Sunkwa, and the Municipal Best Youth Farmer, Madam Dora Nyinfor—both members of the Climate Smart Change Group. They expressed profound appreciation to the Iseguri Initiative for equipping them with practical skills in climate-smart agriculture, resource management, and sustainable farming techniques.

This year, the Iseguri Initiative reaffirmed its commitment to promoting women’s empowerment through climate-smart and innovative agricultural practices.

Sharing success its story with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Raymond Senanu Buami, Project Coordinator of the Iseguri Initiative, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with local communities, agricultural institutions, and women’s groups to advance sustainable farming practices and improve livelihoods across the Oti Region and beyond.

Officials noted that this year’s celebration underscored the vital role played by farmers in ensuring food security, promoting rural livelihoods, and sustaining the nation’s economic development.

The achievements of the award-winning women, they said, demonstrate the importance of supporting agricultural innovation, capacity building, and inclusive participation across farming communities.
