Tehran, Dec 20, (dpa/GNA) – Iran executed a suspected spy for the Israeli foreign intelligence service on Saturday, the judiciary-affiliated Miznan news agency reported.
The man, identified as Aqil K, was arrested in May after taking pictures of a military site in the north-western Iranian city of Orumia, the agency reported.
Following an initial investigation, it emerged that he was a supporter of the monarchy and had cooperated with both a militant Iranian opposition group and Israel’s spy agency, the Mossad, it said.
Mizan said the death sentence was carried out in Orumia, after the initial verdict was confirmed by the Supreme Court.
Since the Israeli attacks on Iranian nuclear and other strategic sites in June, as well as the targeted killings of several Iranian generals and nuclear experts – Iran’s judiciary has detained numerous people suspected of spying for Israel.
