Accra, Dec. 9, GNA – The Governing Council of the Ghana Tourism Federation (GHATOF) has appointed Mr. Joseph Amartey, Executive Director of the Tourism Society of Ghana (TOUGHA) and Tourism Youth Ambassador, as the National Secretary of the Federation.
Mr. Amartey’s appointment marks a significant milestone in the Federation’s mission to unify and advance Ghana’s tourism industry.
In a release issued to the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday in Accra, it said with his extensive background in tourism development, youth advocacy, and organizational leadership, he is expected to bring renewed energy and strategic direction to the Federation’s national agenda.
“As Executive Director of TOSOGHA, Mr. Amartey has championed collaboration among stakeholders and promoted sustainable tourism practices. His role as Tourism Youth Ambassador has further highlighted his commitment to empowering young
people to see tourism as a pathway to innovation, entrepreneurship, and cultural pride.”
The Council said Mr. Amartey’s appointment reflected both his dedication and proven track record in the sector.
“We are confident that he will strengthen the Federation’s operations, enhance stakeholder engagement, and ensure that tourism continues to play a vital role in Ghana’s socio-economic development,” the Council noted. “
The release said as National Secretary, Mr. Amartey would coordinate national programmes and initiatives across all tourism associations, and promote youth involvement in tourism through mentorship and capacity-building projects.
He will also support policy advocacy to ensure tourism remains a priority in Ghana’s development agenda and enhance communication and collaboration among stakeholders at local, national, and international levels.
GHATOF is the umbrella body for tourism trade associations in Ghana. It serves as a unifying platform for stakeholders, advocating for policies and initiatives that advance the tourism industry and contribute to national development.
