Hanover, Dec 6, (dpa/GNA) – A sleeping man was woken up by his dog in time to escape from his burning flat in northern Germany, police said on Saturday.
Thanks to the pet, the 44-year-old was able to climb to safety from the upper floor of the building in Moormerland in the state of Lower Saxony.
He was taken to hospital with suspected smoke inhalation. A technical fault was thought to have started the fire, which caused damage estimated at around €15,000 ($17,000).
