Wawase (C/R), Dec. 23, GNA – The District Chief Executive for Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira, Mr Patrick Fiable, cautioned Youth Employment Agency Security Agencies Module beneficiaries to avoid substance abuse, warning it could jeopardise professionalism and reduce their chances of enlistment into security services.
He also appealed to community members to respect and support the beneficiaries to help prevent crime, especially during the Christmas festivities.
Mr Fiable gave the advice at the inauguration of 201 YEA beneficiaries, including police and prison assistants, in the district.
He urged the personnel to remain vigilant and discharge their duties diligently on various roads and public spaces within the district to ensure the safety of residents and travellers during the festive season.
Former Member of Parliament for the Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira Constituency, Mr Forster Andoh, said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government would not tolerate bribery and corruption in the recruitment process into the security services.
He encouraged residents to report any individual who demanded bribes in connection with recruitment, assuring them that the NDC government had instituted strong policies aimed at promoting youth development and employment.
The District YEA Coordinator, Mr Solomon Owusu Gyan Agyenkwa, also urged the newly inaugurated police and prison assistants, as well as community nurses, to serve with dedication and commitment, particularly during the Christmas season.
He outlined some challenges confronting YEA offices nationwide, including inadequate motorbikes, office accommodation, and vehicles for monitoring activities, and appealed to stakeholders and the general public to support the agency to enhance its operational effectiveness.
