Accra, Dec. 29,GNA-Shaikh Dr Osman Nuhu Sharubutu , the National Chief Imam, has expressed disgust at the shooting of Muslims by Muslims in the Central Mosque of Ho last Friday, December 26, 2025.
He condemned the incident, describing it as an affront to Islamic sanctity, a threat to national security, a deviation from basic civility.
In a statement signed and issued on behalf of the Chief Imam by Dr Abubakar Mohammed Marzuq Azindoo, his Personal Assistant, he called the incident” a tribute to outright impunity.”
“In the words of the Grand Imam, the gun violence is traceable to the contest for the Volta regional Imamship between Shaikh Ali Muniru and Shaikh Anas.
He, however, reiterates that Shaikh Muniru is the legitimate Volta regional Imam, and Shaikh Anas (is) the Deputy Imam. “
According to the statement,” His Eminence explains that the selection of Shaikh Muniru has not been an imposition, but a product of consultation and mediation.
He, therefore, does not understand why a resolved matter continues to be a source of violence.”
The Chief Inman described both leaders as his children from whom he expected solidarity and cordiality in service to Allah and humanity.
He urged the followers of both leaders to be law-abiding and peace-loving in line with the norms of Islam.
“His Eminence also appeals to the Police to exhibit impartiality in handling the issue. Indeed, selective justice is tantamount to injustice,” he emphasised.
“His Eminence prays for a speedy healing of the injured and reminds the factions about the following words of Allah:
‘The believers are brothers. So, make reconciliation between your brothers. And fear Allah, so that you may receive mercy. (Quran 49: 10)’ “
“May Allah reconcile the Ummah and bless our Homeland Ghana. Ameen,” he said, according to the statement.
